There are various forms of print advertising as well as different reasons to utilize print. 
To simplify, let’s divide your print goals into two major and very generic categories:

Marketing Materials are a must with any size business. This includes printed and even electronic materials specifically focusing on things like your business, your background, contact information, your services, what sets you apart from the rest, previous work, and so on and so on.  This might come in the form of a printed (and in some cases electronic) media kit, brochure, catalog, business cards, letterhead as well as any other kind of promotional material. Marketing Materials form a lasting impression so make certain that impression is a good one.  Don’t let your logo and/or copy lose a new client for you before you even sign them. Draft, edit, redraft and edit some more when writing copy then read, re-read and have a 3rd party professional lend a fresh pair of eyes to your project.  Again, do not underestimate the necessity of solid marketing materials with a fresh, relative logo/image.


Using the term “Direct Response Print” is not all encompassing, however will
work for illustration purposes.  Direct response print is print that elicits a direct response from a potential customer.  
Obviously not all print/media campaigns
are direct response; some are branding a
nd  awareness which involves a much lengthier time investment and a softer sell with your media approach.  What we mean by Direct Response Print with respect to print advertising is really both. 
Any print avenue that promotes your company and its services as well as one that brands and creates awareness through avenues such as Direct Mail,
Posters, Print Ads, Billboards, Bus Advertising, Cinema Advertising, Bus Stop
Shelters and so on and so on...  Not every business is suited for promoting their product via this medium and without the expertise it is easy to waste thousands of dollars finding out whether or not your message will be successful on the printed page.


After you determine whether or not your business might be suited for direct response print advertising, it is important to make certain that the layout you use is suited for the media venue you choose.  What might work well in a magazine spread, might not necessarily work on a billboard or bus. Keep in mind, the written word is very permanent.  With so many options and factors to consider, how can you be sure your organizational message is being presented properly?
